Steve McCloud: steve@christumchurch.org
Can you say, “Journey” ? Steve McCloud’s story is nothing short of a long journey. Steve grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana where he developed a love for music at an early age He was fortunate to be influenced by a great music, media and theatre arts program in his early school days. Bypassing college, Steve began a career as a professional musician at age 21 and never looked back. His journey has covered thousands of miles across the country and includes an impressive list of musical experiences. When it seemed like his life was falling apart from too many road weary miles, Steve met his wife Jenny and soon after gave his life to Jesus Christ at the age of 34. At this point, Steve’s journey took a new direction and had a new purpose. No longer an entertainer, Steve had a new reason to sing and was given a heart for worship and a new direction in life. Steve came to Christ church from Alexandria, Louisiana, along with wife Jenny and their daughter Allison. While in Louisiana he worked bi-vocationally in both audio & video production and music and media ministry for several years. Steve feels truly called by God to train, lead and mentor others in the ministry of worship Arts. “The opportunity to serve at Christ Church is a blessing milestone for me”, says Steve. “I look forward to serving andworshiping my Lord here at CUMC with the many talented artists that are drawn to the spirit of this church and the love of it’s people. It’s so good to be home !”

HEATHER KILL : heather@christumchurch.org
Hello to all of you at Christ United Methodist Church. My name is Heather Kill and yes, that is my real last name! Thank you so much for making the decision to hire me. I am excited about all the challenges and opportunities that are ahead for us both. Let me tell you a little bit about me. I am originally from a small town in Minnesota (where all of my family is now) and was raised on a farm. I graduated from Crown College in St. Bonifacious, MN in 2000 and that is where God called me into youth ministry and I cannot imagine myself doing anything different. I love working with, talking to, and hanging out with teenagers. They have freshness and such an open outlook on life that so many people lose as they get older. My job as youth director is to take that freshness and openness and point it to Jesus. I have moved to Lafayette from Wilmington, DE where I worked as the youth director in my previous church for six years. In July 2007 I heard God calling me to stretch my wings and move onto something new. And when God speaks, I have found that it is better to listen and obey than not because his plans are so much better than mine! I look forward to getting to know you better and becoming a part of your church family!

SUSAN HUDDLESTON: susan@christumchurch.org
Susan
Huddleston was raised in Twelve Mile (Cass County) Indiana with wonderful
parents, two older sisters, and two younger brothers (one is deceased).
She graduated from high school at Twelve Mile, getting married at an early
age and being blessed with two children, Ed and Marilee. For many years
her position was homemaking, gardening, and working in the fields and in
the dairy farm with her family. After her divorce in 1986, she became the
manager of Rax Restaurant in Logansport, IN. When desiring to make a move
out of Cass County, she relocated to Brookston where she worked as the bookkepper
for a grain operation, then left there and became the bookkeeper for Lafayette
Tent and Awning - never feeling fulfilled by these positions. In early 1990,
she met JP Huddleston on a blind date, fell in love and married him in October
of 1991. He has three children, Jeff, Michelle and Jenny. Between their
five children they have 14 blessed grandchildren, 3 girls, and 11 boys,
and they are truly happy that they all live within an hour of their home.
After reading an ad in the Journal and Courier for Christ Church’s
needs for a secretary, she sent her resume and then waited for an interview.
Susan had the interview but was then turned down and truly disappointed.
She continued prayer for the ministry position, then, as she says, “lo
and behold after three weeks an angel (Mary Kay Long) called me, offered
me the position and wanted me to start that day.” Susan continues,
“Well, folks, after 16 years I’m still here feeling truly
blessed to serve Christ, His Church, and His people.”
