TEACHER’S CORNER
September is finally here which means back to school! The children have been so excited each week to fill me in on their school adventures and it is fun hearing all the stories.
This month we start our new Live Big curriculum. We are really excited as it is more challenging and geared to our 7-8 year olds. You will see different types of take home activities and crafts from this point on.
We also have hit our 3 month progress chart reward system. Christa and I will plan to host a classroom party with snacks, juice, and prizes for the children on September 2. At that time, they will be given their reward tickets from their progress chart. Tickets are distributed for attendance, having your bible in the classroom with you, behavior, and bible story trivia questions. The children are really excited and I know are looking forward to that Sunday.
If your child is unable to attend the party on September 2, they can redeem their tickets for prizes the following week. Be sure to check in with your child on their prize they chose—I’m sure it will be interesting and fun!
Lastly, you will receive a Mission Challenge from all Children’s Sunday School Classes. PLEASE consider helping your child participate. I love challenges and look forward to our class being the champions so we can have that fun classroom party on October 28!
God Bless,
April Headdy and Christa Broadwater
SEPTEMBER BIBLE VERSE
And God said, “I will be with you.” (Exodus 3:12, adapted)
SEPTEMBER OVERVIEW
B.i.G. Idea: We believe that God chooses ordinary people to make a difference in God’s world.
B.i.G. Theme: God chooses us.
Overview: your child will,
- Hear the biblical stories of Moses hearing God’s call through the burning bush, God calling the boy Samuel, God choosing the shepherd boy David to be the future king, Jesus calling the tax collector, Matthew to follow him, Jesus sending his disciples out two by two to share the good news.
- discover the biblical promise that God is always with them.
- discover how we can respond to God’s call in many ways.
- recognize that God cares more about our hearts than how we appear on the outside.
- recognize that Jesus calls his followers to learn, grow, and to make a significant difference.
- recognize that even when people are not receptive to the message we have to share, we should not be discouraged and we may rely on God’s power to make the connection.
